Starting Nursery...

Choosing the right care for your child can be quite scary;

Leaving your child in the hands of strangers can be quite daunting;

You need to be certain that you are making the right choice.

We at Goldilocks Nursery, understand your emotions and feelings as we too have been in your shoes with our own children. We promise to give your children the care that we expected for our own children.

Your First Visit

Before your child joins us, we will meet you and show you around so you can see the nursery for yourself. We will answer all the questions you may have, and find out more about your child’s likes, dislikes, routines and personal preferences.

  • You need to know that your child is in a secure environment and that they will be safe in the care of someone else. You want to be sure that they will be nurtured and developed both educationally and socially.
  • We will also talk to you about our Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies to reassure you that your child is in the best hands.

Registering your child

Whatever your situation is, you’ll no doubt want to find out how soon your child can get started at nursery. Unlike schools, Goldilocks Nursery is not bound by termly intakes. All children are welcome to join us at any point in the year. Unless you’re applying for government funded nursery education grant to help pay for your child’s place, you don’t need to worry about any deadlines or cut off dates.

  • Please contact us for availability and book a show round. We will be delighted to show you around our provision so you can get an idea and feel of what Goldilocks Nursery is all about.
  • Once you have registered your child with us, we will arrange what we call, ‘settling-in sessions’. These sessions are completely free and provide your child with the opportunity to meet the team and their key person.

Settling in Sessions

The tranisition between home and Goldilocks Nursery normally requires a period of adjustment for children and parents. We allocate a minimum of two settling-in sessions to help children adjust gradually to the new environment, the staff and other children in their room.

  • Every child is allocated a key person. Our key person have a vital role to play in developing secure attachments with each family during settling in sessions and daily contact and nurturing close, trusting and supportive relationships.

We request parents to allocate 2 weeks (possibly 3 weeks) to allow the settling-in process to take place. No fees are charged during the settling-in sessions.
